  • Tilt Pro Hydrometer and Thermometer - Pink

Tilt® Pro Hydrometer and Thermometer - Pink

At 3x the volume and weight of the original Tilt hydrometer, the Tilt Pro's larger size allows it to more than double the battery life with preinstalled Energizer® AA lithium batteries that will keep it powered for 3 to 5 years depending on use. So much time you may forget your Tilt actually runs on a battery! The extra size and weight come with an extra bonus: improved specific gravity stability at high krausen, so you will see a steadier read-out on your iPhone, Android, or Raspberry Pi. In addition, Tilt Pro has boosted the range with a high-gain antenna that in testing increased range by 20% vs. the original Tilt. Now you can see your Tilt through thicker heads of foam and heavier stainless steel walls. To top it off they've included the extra decimal of precision available from the sensors and to the read-out so there are now decimal degrees Fahrenheit as well as higher resolution Celsius. Specific gravity now reads out to the 10,000th place (for example 1.0000). You can now see fermentation activity dropping less than a brewer's point per day. In all they've made several adjustments we believe the craft beer professional (and serious home brewer) is sure to appreciate. Specifications: Size: 1.7" (43mm) diameter (max) by 5.4" (140mm) tall Weight: 5.4 ounces (153g) Specific Gravity Measurement Range: 0.9900 - 1.1200 Specific Gravity Resolution: 0.00001 Temperature Measurement Range: 0°F - 140°F (-17.8°C - 60°C) Note: Installed lithium batteries include a built in PTC (heat activated fuse) that will temporarily cut power if batteries exceed 140°F. Temperature resolution: 0.1°F (0.1°C) Absolute Maximum Temperature Range: -40°F to 185°F (-40°C to 85°C) Battery: User-replaceable, 2x 1.5v AA battery (Li/FeS2), widely sold as "Energizer®  AA Ultimate Lithium".

Measuring alcohol by volume (ABV) is of utmost importance for beverage manufacturers as it holds several key benefits for their operations. Firstly, ABV provides an accurate representation of the alcohol content in a particular beverage, ensuring product consistency and quality control. This information is vital for beverage manufacturers to comply with legal regulations and labeling requirements, as different jurisdictions often impose specific limits on the ABV of alcoholic beverages. Additionally, precise ABV measurements allow manufacturers to calculate the correct amount of taxes and excise duties owed on their products. By ensuring ABV accuracy, beverage manufacturers can maintain customer trust and satisfaction by delivering beverages that meet the expected potency and flavor profiles. Overall, measuring ABV is a crucial step in the manufacturing process, assisting beverage companies in maintaining regulatory compliance, product consistency, and customer confidence. • edge Compatible Digital DO/Temperature Electrode

    Hanna edge® Compatible Digital DO/Temperature Electrode (Hanna# HI764080)

The HI 764080 is a digital dissolved oxygen electrode with built-in temperature sensor. This ultra-thin, Clark-type polarographic electrode is designed for measuring DO in aqueous solutions and contains a built-in microchip that stores sensor type, serial number, and calibration information. The sensor features a platinum cathode with a silver/silver chloride anode, an integrated temperature sensor, and easily replaceable PTFE membrane caps. This probe features a 3.5 mm connector designed exclusively to be used with Hanna Instruments edge® Tablet Meters. Ultra-Thin Body Replaceable Membranes 3.5 mm Connector Built-in Microchip The built-in microchip stores sensor type, serial number and calibration information including date, time, offset, slope, probe condition and buffers used. This information is automatically retrieved by edge® once the electrode is plugged in. The ability to transfer information allows for hot swapping of probes without having to recalibrate. All DO measurements are performed within the electrode and transferred digitally to the meter. This overcomes any noise issues associated with the traditional high impedance analog measuring system. Electrical noise can be generated from a built in temperature sensor and while working in a humid environment.   Ultra-Thin Body The ultra-thin, 12mm, design allows for convenient measurement in narrow vessels such as test tubes.   Replaceable Membranes With screw-on caps, edge® DO PTFE membranes are easy to replace for faster maintenance.   Features at-a-glance: • Digital Microprocessor • Ultra-thin design – 12mm body for convenience • Replaceable membranes – easy screw on for easy maintenance • Polarographic sensor • Built-in temperature sensor • 3.5mm digital plug – easy to plug in, no alignment necessary

Throughout the entire winemaking process it's important to test our wines to make sure they are healthy and are progressing as we would like. MoreWine! highly recommends testing wine for the following:

  • TA testing measures the amount of total acids in the wine or must.
  • pH testing gives you an idea of how the wines acidity will be perceived when we drink it. A pH measurement is done using a special meter that measures the relative balance of the acidity as it relates to the buffers (mostly Potassium) naturally found in a wine or must.
  • Sugar testing is done to measure the amount of sugar in a wine or must. This amount is important to know because wines that contain residual sugar (not "dry") need to be stabilized before being bottled or you may have spoilage and re-fermentation problems later in the wines' life.
  • SO2 testing is a critical tool to being able to properly protect your wine from oxidation and spoilage organisms. SO2 levels should be properly maintained throughout the entire ageing period right up until the wine is bottled. (Complete information on SO2 management can be found in our SO2 Management Paper!)
  • Malolactic Chromatography testing is used to monitor the completion (or presence of) of malolactic fermentation in the wine. Any wine that has residual malic acid is considered unstable and will need to be stabilized correctly before being bottled or you run the risk of possible renewed fermentation after the wine is in the bottle which spoils the wine.
  • Temperature testing is important at all stages of winemaking: from helping make sure fermentation temperatures don't get too hot, to maintaining the recommended ageing/storage temperatures that will ensure the best development of your wine!

Complete information on testing wine can be found in our Red Winemaking manual, our White Winemaking Manual and in the MoreWine! MoreManuals section of our website!
