Are all bi-metal thermometers created equal? Not really. The problem with most bi-metal thermometers is that hang ups occur and you have to tap the thermometer to get an accurate reading. The cause of the problem is that the bimetallic helical coil in the stem of other bi-metal thermometers is tack welded to the stem itself. Our new line of thermometers feature a super sensitive bimetallic helical coil suspended from a copper coated bushing fixed in the stem. This superior design provides a faster response to temperature changes and assures more accurate readings. What does this mean? You don't have to tap the gauge with your finger as much. The Temperature Tamer hangs from the side of a bin or tank and has a built-in temperature controller that monitors the temperature and controls a solenoid valve, allowing coolant or heated water to enter a snake, plate or jacket to maintain your ideal temperature. Theoretically you could be maintaining the temperature of a red wine ferment at 77F in one tank while you cold stabilized a white wine at 30F in the next. The built-in Ranco controller allows for heating or cooling, has a temperature range of -30 to 220F, and will maintain the temperature in a ferment or tank within one degree of your set point. The controller opens and closes the built in electronic solenoid valve to start or stop the flow of coolant. The included thermal sensor can be placed into a thermowell mounted onto a tank or a floating thermowell used with a Macrobin. The unit comes equipped with 1/2" barb outlets for the glycol system, however you can remove those and attach anything you'd like to the 1/2" FPT behind them. We generally like to use Quick Disconnects in these systems, please contact us if you need assistance setting this up properly. The LinkTech 60PS Series is a lineup of premium plastic Quick Disconnects.  These High Quality QDs are made from medical grade polypropylene, a high-strength plastic that is temperature tolerant 160° (Max!), and can handle pressure ranging from a vacuum to 60 psi. All of the 60PS Series will interconnect, and these units will also work seamlessly (and leaklessly!) with CPC Quick Disconnects of the same internal 3/8” flow path.  O-rings are a EPDM Rubber, and internal valve springs are constructed from 316 Stainless steel. This is a Female Socket, which can connect to any H501 Series Male Plug.  It has a 3/8" Hose Barb on the other end for attaching any 3/8" ID tubing.  This QD is equipped with a shutoff valve.   When not connected to another QD, this will not allow any flow.  While not quite as bulletproof as our Stainless Steel Quick Disconnects, this lineup does offer a few advantages.  These can be set up with Shutoffs, which will prevent flow when disconnected, and can be incredibly useful on Pump or Glycol systems.  The pricing of these products is more economical, yet the plastic is still medical grade.
