American Honey Pale Ale | 5 Gallon Beer Recipe Kit | Extract
This ale will deliver a smooth blend of Cascade floral character and biterness, tempered by a slight sweetness from the honey Includes 100% Cascade hops Estimated ABV: 6% Estimated IBUs: 40 Makes 5 gallons of finished beer In 2011, the White House home brewed beer for the first time in, well, perhaps centuries! We were super were excited when a MoreBeer! customer first submitted his freedom of information act request for the White House homebrew recipes. We were a little surprised, and we'll say it - let down - when we saw the actual recipes. One MoreBeer! staffer blurted out "Whoa...this seems like beer that Prince Harry should be brewing." English malt extract, English hops, and even an English yeast strain were used; so the only thing truly American was the honey! It seems that we were not the only beer lovers to pick up on this. So while we really, really love English beers as much as the next homebrewer, we think the White House Brewmasters should be using fresh ingredients from well...America. Since we were tweaking the recipe towards this side of the pond, we decided we could also help educate the White House staff on their yeast selection. Yes dry yeast has gotten better but since this is the White House and all, we think they can spring for liquid yeast...and is there any better choice for this recipe than Wyeast 1056 AMERICAN Ale or White Labs 001 California Ale?? Not really. In fact, just queue up the star spangled banner, turn on the football game, and throw some hot dogs on the grill because we are starting to feel pretty patriotic here. So while we send this kit along with our friendly suggestions back to the White House, YOU can make the exact same beer at home. That way if you are in a diner somewhere on the campaign trail and the president pulls up you can whip out a bottle of the 'Honey Pale the White House Should Be Making' or the 'Honey Porter the White House Should Be Making' and enlighten the Top Dog, homebrewer style. This American Honey Pale Ale uses all American ingredients, including: White Wheat, Crystal 15L, and Ultralight Malt Extract Cascade hops California Wildflower Honey Truly a classic American Pale Ale recipe! This ale will deliver a smooth blend of Cascade floral character and biterness, tempered by a slight sweetness from the honey. The California Wildflower Honey delivers just enough residual sweetness to result in an amazingly balanced, hoppily delicious pale ale. Makes 5 gallons Estimated Original Gravity: 1.054-59 SRM (Color Range): 8 IBUs: 40 Estimated Alcohol Percentage: 6% Our recipe kits DO NOT include grain bags, yeast or priming sugar. To find our yeast recommendations, choose your preferred kit option above and then select the drop-down menu under “Yeast Options”. For more info, click on the recommended yeast(s) below in the “You Might Also Need” section below. All included steeping grains will come milled. Liquid Malt Extract (LME) vs. Dried Malt Extract (DME) MoreBeer! recipe kits are offered in both Liquid Malt Extract and Dry Malt Extract so that our customers can choose the format that best suits their needs and brewing style. LME is a viscous liquid, similar in consistency to maple syrup. In addition to being the more affordable option, many brewers find LME easier to handle than dry extract. DME is more condensed and comes in a powder format that is similar to baking flour. Although it’s a little more costly, DME is naturally lighter in color and stays fresher for longer. We highly recommend DME when brewing light colored beers.

IPA II BKG Bomb | 5 Gallon Beer Recipe Kit | All-Grain
German malts and English hops collide. BKG Bomb is a far cry from today's modern, citrus-forward IPAs Includes Magnum and British Kent Goldings hops Estimated ABV: 7.2% Estimated IBUs: 84-88 Makes 5 gallons of finished beer Where do German Malts and English Hops exist side by side in peace and unlikely harmony. In our BKG Bomb of an IPA! This big brusing beer, with an amazing mouth feel from copius amounts of German Munich Malt, is big on deep malt flavor and big on alcohol. It is the antithesis of todays super citrusy hopped, pale colored IPAs. This is all about malt, malt, malt and how British Kent Goldings (BKG) hops blend oh so well with a malt heavy beer. British Kent Goldings are the most prized ale hops in England and known for their subtle nature and floral aromas that really compliment malt flavors. Do you need a little extra sustenance to make it through the winter? Do you like to slice your beer with a knife? Do you need a break from over-the-top hopped IPA's? If you answered yes to any of these questions, The BKG Bomb IPA II should be your next beer. Features 10 lbs of German Munich Malt and 3 lbs of American Pale. As if that was not enough we also include some Carapils for body building. The 4 oz of British Kent Golding hops in the finish provided for a unique and authentic English flavor. Agar (2 oz)
Pharmaceutical grade dry agar for making plates and slants. 2 oz will make up approximately 4000 ml of liquid agar. BK580, First Steps In Yeast Culturing, is a great reference if you do not have prior experience working with agar. For lab use, use 12 grams to make 1 liter of solid agar, which is way more than even a big laboratory uses. You need a very accurate scale to measure that out. You want to dissolve the agar slowly in the water or wort for a few minutes. Then heat gently till you get to a boil. Be very careful of not boiling over, if you do it's best to throw that boil out as your water to agar ratio is off and you will not get a good medium. Boil for a few minutes and then divide out to sterilize.

Rogue Ales Blackened Brutal Bitter | 5 Gallon Beer Recipe Kit | Extract
This BrewMaster Series kit was scaled down to a homebrew batch size in collaboration with the brewmasters at Rogue Ales Huge malt flavors backed by a solid bitter hop bite Includes Magnum, Cascade, and Willamette hops Estimated ABV: 6.5% Estimated IBUs: 67-71 Makes 5 gallons of finished beer John is at it again! Since purchasing our B3-2050 Brewing Sculpture a few years back, John Maier has created many specialty recipes just for himself. And since his I2PA was such a hit when we released it, we asked him for another one. Being the nice guy that he is, he sent over one of his private, 2050-System-only, impossible-to-taste-unless-you-live-in-Newport, Oregon brews - Blackened Brutal Bitter! John took his production beer, the wonderful Brutal Bitter, tweaked it around a bit and added some Carafa for color. The taste is out of this world! Try it and let us know. Or better yet, drop John a line and tell him! Makes 5 gallons Estimated Original Gravity: 1.062-66 SRM (Color Range): 30-32 IBUs: 67-71 Estimated Alcohol Percentage: 6.5% Our recipe kits DO NOT include grain bags, yeast or priming sugar.

Russian River Brewing Company Blind Pig® IPA | 5 Gallon Beer Recipe Kit | Extract
This BrewMaster Series kit was scaled down to a homebrew batch size in collaboration with the brewmasters at Russian River Brewing Company This is the original homebrew recipe that was the basis for Russian River Brewing Company's famous Blind Pig IPA Won Silver Medals at the World Cup of Beer and the Great American Beer Festival in 1996 Includes Magnum, Cascade, and Willamette hops Estimated ABV: 6.5% Estimated IBUs: 60 Makes 5 gallons of finished beer The original Double IPA! Vinnie Cilurzo began homebrewing in 1989 while in college. In 1994 Vinnie started the Blind Pig Brewing Company in Temecula, CA, a small, low-budget micro-brewery known for their extremely hoppy IPA—an IPA which won silver medals at both the Great American Beer Festival and the World Beer Cup. Vinnie sold his share in Blind Pig and was hired to manage and brew at the Russian River Brewing Company, a start-up brewery by Korbel Champagne in Guerneville, CA. In late 2002 Korbel decided to get out of the beer business and sold the Russian River name and brand to Vinnie who moved the brewery to Santa Rosa, CA, 90 miles North of San Francisco, where he and his wife Natalie opened a brew-pub which serves delicious bites and, of course, all of the Russian River Ales. Vinnie has won 10 awards at the Great American Beer Festival in just six years and was named Small Brewing Company Brewmaster of the Year in 1999. Russian River's smashing success continues to this day, expanding and opening a second brewery in Windsor, CA. Almost every beer that Vinnie makes commercially started out as a homebrew recipe at one point or another. Even as a professional brewer, Vinnie still homebrews at least 5 or 6 times a year. This is the original homebrew recipe that was the basis for Blind Pig IPA which won Silver Medals at the World Cup of Beer and the Great American Beer Festival in 1996, the last year Vinnie brewed it. Two dry hop additions along with 1 oz of American Oak are added directly to the fermenter after the first week of fermentation. To say it is a very unique, extremely flavorful IPA is an understatement. Vinnie recommends using White Labs California yeast, WLP001. Makes 5 gallons Estimated Original Gravity: 1.065-70 SRM (Color Range): 7 IBUs: 60 Estimated Alcohol Percentage: 6.5% Our recipe kits DO NOT include grain bags, yeast or priming sugar. To find our yeast recommendations, choose your preferred kit option above and then select the drop-down menu under “Yeast Options”. Pale Ale by Frank Ellis | 5 Gallon Beer Recipe Kit | All-Grain
Our Signature Series kits offer a selection of crazy, unique beers developed by MoreBeer! customers, associates, and homebrewing legends! This recipe displays the malt, alcohol and hoppiness of an IPA but with the bitterness of a Pale Ale Includes Willamette and Cascade hops Estimated ABV: 5.8% Estimated IBUs: 39-42 Makes 5 gallons of finished beer The legendary Frank Ellis, Grandfather of our Signature Series Kits, brings you his over the top Pale Ale with an amazing 7 oz of hops and 9 lbs of malt extract. It has the malt, alcohol and hoppiness of an IPA but the bitterness of a Pale Ale. Frank started with our American Pale Ale II, KIT250 – but this wasn’t enough flavor for Frank. So he added one pound of malt extract, more finish hops, followed by... yet more finish hops! The resulting flavor is malty with plenty of hop flavor, courtesy of the copious amounts of Cascade and Willamette hops. One day while on the phone placing an order with us, Frank got tired of having to make these additions to our existing KIT250 so he asked why he couldn’t have his own kit to cut down on confusion. He was absolutely right! So the series was born! When you are drinking any of the Signature Series recipes, raise your glass and give a virtual cheers to fellow homebrewer Frank Ellis in Missouri for the good idea. Frank has brewed his own kit an amazing 62 times over the last decade! Frank recommends using White Labs California yeast, WLP001 or Wyeast American, WY1056. Makes 5 gallons Estimated Original Gravity:1.058-62 SRM (Color Range): 7-11 IBUs: 39-42 Estimated Alcohol Percentage: 5.8% Our recipe kits DO NOT include grain bags, yeast or priming sugar.
