High quality, absolute rated .45 micron absolute filter with a hard caged body and gasketed ends. Thermally bonded end caps and ultrasonic welded media seams for a one piece construction. Absolute rated at 99.99% efficiency to remove bacteria for sterile filtering. Ideal for filtering white wine that has not completed a full malolactic fermentation. Filters meet FDA Title 21 regulations for beverage contact. Will work with our 10 inch cannister filter. What makes this filter really unique is the PES layer membrane with defined .45 micron hole size. This layer will not allow material to pass that is over .45 in size. Some experienced winemakers who are familiar with their wine and who do not have a cartridge filter use this pad to remove most ml bacteria, making it less likely that an unwanted ML fermentation takes place in the bottle. Remove chlorine and organic flavor with this 10" carbon block filter. Also filters out sediment to 10 micron. We open the housing after use and store filter dry to eliminate algae from growing inside the housing. Designed to work with our filter housing or any other standard, 10" housing. Good for 8,000 gallons. After talking to different manufacturers it is our understanding that chloramines can be removed by carbon filtration if the water has a long contact time with the carbon.
