The stable carrying handles have been tried and tested for decades and are extremely durable. Are you tired of carboys? Hate siphoning to transfer? Wish you could ferment larger batches in a single container? Sick of lifting 50lbs by a small metal handle? Done with worrying about shattered glass, injury and lost product? Well then have we got the solution for you! These heavy duty plastic tanks offer a fantastic fermentation & storage solution at a great price. Key Features: Heavy duty HDPE construction is durable and resists oxygen transfer. None of the risks of working with glass. Small footprint makes them easy to store - take better advantage of the space you have to dedicate to wine & beer making. Built-in handles make these tanks easy to move, even when full. Large lid opening makes them easy to clean by hand - say goodbye to your carboy brush! All ports seal with gaskets and the vessel can be fully sealed for long-term storage. Includes a spigot and oversized 2-piece Speidel airlock. Designed and manufactured in Germany by Speidel, the makers of our legendary commercial wine tanks Suggested Applications: 12L: Perfect for storing small lots, making experimental batches and taking some of your beer or wine along with you to your next party. 20L: Ideal for secondary fermentation and storage of 5 gallon batches. 30L: The vessel for fermenting wine kits and 5 gallon batches of beer with plenty of headspace and no need for a blowoff tube. 60L: Perfect for fermenting larger batches of wine or 10 gallon batches of beer in a single container! Only 4" larger in diameter than a 6.5 gallon carboy! 120L: Ferment & Store large batches of anything - your creativity is the only limit! Approximate Dimensions: 13.5in Diameter x 18.5in Height (w/out airlock in place). Note - The maximum temperature that these plastic fermenters can handle is 140F. FAQ: Can filled containers be carried by the handles? Depending on the weight—barrels up to 30L are no problem—60L is the limit and should not be carried when completely full. The handles have a weight capacity of 30kg (66 lbs). Is there an upper limit on the alcohol content of the stored liquid? In principle, there is not. However, it should be noted that the higher the alcohol content, the faster the seals and, to a lesser extent, the tank itself will wear out. Up to what temperature can the containers be used? For short periods of time the containers can withstand temperatures of up to 80°C (176°F). This temperature should not be exceeded. For longer periods of time the containers can be used at temperatures up to 60°C (140°F).

  • Refractometer - Dual Scale w/ ATC Refractometer - Dual Scale w/ ATC

    Dual Scale Refractomer w/ ATC

    130 reviews

A refractometer is used to measure the density of a solution. Measure the brix level (sugar level) in your grapes with just one drop! The perfect vineyard tool for monitoring ripening grapes. We also use them after the crush to get an exact brix reading. A refractometer cannot be directly used after fermentation has taken place as alcohol distorts the reading, however a conversion calculator (MS Excel based) is available from MoreWine! on request. Refractometer Statistics: Our refractometer is hand held with a metal body, flexible eye piece and rubber grip. It features a 0 to 32% Brix scale with .2% resolution and ATC (Automatic Temperature Compensation). Traditional refractometers without ATC are calibrated to work at 68 degrees Fahrenheit. The ATC function allows you to use the refractometer in an ambient temperature range of 50-86 degrees Fahrenheit (10-30 Celsius.) Because your sample is just one drop, and will quickly adjust to the temperature of the refractometer, the temperature of the sample is irrelevant. Our unit also comes with a manual calibration knob that is secured with a lock nut. To calibrate place one drop of water (distilled water is preferred, but not required) on the testing platform and adjust to zero if necessary.

  • Wine Kit - VineCo - Original Series - Pinot Grigio, ITA Wine Kit - VineCo - Original Series - Pinot Grigio, ITA

Italian Pinot Grigio Wine Making Kit - VineCo Original Series™

    2 reviews

It is difficult to conjure a single description for Pinot Grigio—the grapes themselves can vary greatly in color and appearance, and the resulting wine is often heavily influenced by the dominant wine making style of the region in which the grapes were grown. Examples of Pinot Grigio can be pure, neutral, and fresh, or they can be complex, opulent, and even a bit smoky or spicy. The color of the grapes themselves can range from grayish blue to a pale yellow. In fact, Pinot Grigio is not considered to be a stand alone variety, technically. These grapes are actually a clone of Pinot Noir but the color difference comes from a genetic mutation that occurred centuries ago. Regardless of how it appears on the vine, Pinot Grigio (also called Pinot Gris depending on the region) has been planted in the Burgundy region since the Middle Ages and now enjoys a foothold in nearly every grape growing region in the world. Commonly mistaken as a native Italian grape, Pinot Gris was born in Burgundy, France and made its way to Switzerland in the 1300s and then on to Italy where it was dubbed Pinot Grigio. It took well to the grape growing regions of northeastern Italy and quickly became the country’s most popular white wine. Compared to its predecessors, Italian Pinot Grigio is characterized as lighter-bodied, with crisper acidity and flavors that are predominantly fruity or floral. Our Italy Pinot Grigio is heavy on the orchard flavors of green apple, lemon, and lime. A dry white wine with light-medium body, zero oak character, and an alcohol level of 12.5% by volume. The VineCo Original Pinot Grigio is a bright wine well-suited for bright and sunny Summer meals enjoyed outside on the patio before the sun has set. A perky beverage that seems to spur on lively conversation at the table, a feature that comes from the luminus fruit character as much as it does the alcohol. Keep the food pairings as light as your banter with seafood dishes like crab cakes, calamari, or a bowl of spicy ceviche. Pinot Grigio, Italy Green apple, lemon, and lime Sweetness: Dry Oak: None Body: Light-Medium ABV: 12.5% Kit Volume: 8 L Approximate Yield: 23 L Ready to bottle in 4 weeks Bottle Labels sold separately

  • Wine Kit - VineCo - Original Series - Chardonnay, CAL Wine Kit - VineCo - Original Series - Chardonnay, CAL

California Chardonnay Wine Making Kit - VineCo Original Series™

    2 reviews

Originating in the Burgundy region of France, in such famous appellations as Montrachet, Meursault, Poilly-Fuisse and Chablis, Chardonnay is now the most popular white wine style in the world. Chardonnay thrives in a wide range of soils and weather climates from France to Australia.  Winemakers love Chardonnay because it produces such a wide range of complex, flavorful wines. From fruit forward and crisp, to lean and minerally, to hedonistic, rich, and oaky, no wine sparks as much stylistic debate as Chardonnay.  California Chardonnay offers a full spectrum of expressions, as the grape is widely grown throughout the state from the warmer climate of the Central Valley to the cool, foggy hills near the Pacific coast. Traditionally, California Chardonnay is assumed to be full-bodied with a buttery texture and prominent oak character. But more modern approaches produce examples that have little to no oak character at all and can range from bright and fruity to soft and earthy. Our California Chardonnay has highly expressive tree fruit flavors of green apple, pear and apricot with no oak character. With an alcohol level of 12.5% this Chardonnay features a dry finish and medium body. The VineCo Original Chardonnay is the perfect everyday wine to unwind with after work. There is something calming about a glass of this shimmering gold liquid resting on your kitchen counter while you make dinner. Or pull a cork at the next weekend BBQ and share with friends. It’s always time for Chardonnay. • Wine Kit - VineCo - Original Series - Moscato, CAL Wine Kit - VineCo - Original Series - Moscato, CAL

California Moscato Wine Making Kit - VineCo Original Series™

Any conversation regarding Moscato must first begin with Muscat, widely regarded as the oldest domesticated wine grape in human history. Muscat itself is not a single variety, but rather an extensive group of ancient grapes that have been growing all over the Mediterranean for millenia. Within the collective, you have some grapes that are genetically related and others that are not, but one distinct feature shared by every variety under the Muscat umbrella is the unmistakable, fruity aromatics. From there, Muscat can vary greatly in size, shape, and appearance, and are used to produce wines that run the gamut from sweet to dry or still to sparkling. Today, Muscat grapes can be found in virtually every corner of the world’s grape growing regions. Moscato, which is Italian for Muscat Blanc, is generally made to be sweet, light-bodied, and lower in alcohol. Our Californian Moscato packs a powerful fruit-forwardness with grapey flavors and notes of apple and citrus. A light-medium bodied example that is medium sweet with no oak presence. The most easy-drinking option with a laidback alcohol level of 8.7% by volume. The VineCo Original Moscato is easily enjoyed during brunch or dessert, and—if you enjoy the sweeter things in life—perhaps everywhere in between. Whether you’re lying back on a picnic blanket with a blue sky above you and a cheeseboard beside you, or you’re snuggled up on the couch with one eye on the television and the other on a souffle bowl of cobbler, an uncorked bottle of Moscato will never be out of place. • Balazs New Hungarian Oak Barrel - 1L (0.26 gal) - PLACEHOLDER Balazs New Hungarian Oak Barrel - 1L (0.26 gal) - PLACEHOLDER

    Balazs Hungarian Oak Barrel | Mild Toast | 1L | 0.26 gal

Made from high-quality Slavonian oak sustainably sourced from Hungarian forests Superior in long term storage due to the tight grain and slow release of phenolic compounds Equivalent or superior quality compared to French Oak barrels at a much more affordable cost Zinc-plated steel barrel hoops for corrosion resistance Coopered by the world-renowned Balazs Nagy Balazs barrels is a long-trusted brand of Hungarian oak barrels coopered by the famous Balazs Nagy.  These barrels are equal or better in quality to French Oak barrels but available at a fraction of the cost of their more famous counterparts. Renowned for respecting fruit, Hungarian barrels offer winemakers a great option to impact the mouthfeel, structure and flavor of wine without stepping on the terroir of your grapes.  Due to the tight grain and slow release of phenolic compounds, you can feel secure storing your wine in Hungarian barrels longer than you can with other barrels. The slow process of micro oxygenation rounds the wine while various compounds in the wood such as hemicellulose, lipids, and lignins are slowly integrated.  As most barrel makers know, the best source of wood for wine barrels is the oak grown in the territory of old-time Hungary, known as Slavonian oak. This rare, high-quality oak can be found in the Zemplén Mountains and in the Tokaj oak woods. The specific type of oak in those territories, and what is used in Balazs barrels, is the Quercus Petrea. This oak is characterised by a dense, hard structure combined with extra flavor. Forestry workers look after these forests with considerable expertise, and the forest density ratio in Hungary is 20–24%, with selective logging taking place between November and April. Once the wood is sourced, it is air dried and aged for 24-28 months before cooperage. Balázs Barrels is establishing a direct cooperation with the forestry workers, ensuring the continuous supply of the best quality oak, allowing them to source and work with the most excellent oak for wine barrel manufacturing from the foremost Hungarian forests. 1 L (0.26 gal) Height - 7.08" Head Diameter - 4.72" Abdomen Diameter - 5.91" Stave Thickness - 0.39 - 0.59" Bung Hole - 17 mm Empty Weight - 2.2 lbs Mild Toast Barrel hoops made from zinc-plated steel for corrosion resistance Rack included
