About the MA871 Digital Brix Refractometer
If you've used an optical refractometer, this is the upgrade. Instead of holding it up to the light and reading a faint line, you put a couple drops on the prism, press read, and get a number in about two seconds. It's accurate to ±0.2% Brix and temperature compensated, so a cool morning sample reads the same as a warm one. The measurement follows the ICUMSA standard used for sugar analysis. Keep in mind a refractometer is for reading sugar before fermentation starts, since alcohol skews the reading once it's underway.
