We open the housing after use and store filter dry to eliminate algae from growing inside the housing. Designed to work with our filter housing or any other standard, 10" housing. Good for 8,000 gallons. After talking to different manufacturers it is our understanding that chloramines can be removed by carbon filtration if the water has a long contact time with the carbon.
