BevBright® .45 Micron Absolute Sterile Beverage Filter Cartridge

    Description

High quality, absolute rated .45 micron absolute filter with a hard caged body and gasketed ends. Thermally bonded end caps and ultrasonic welded media seams for a one piece construction. Absolute rated at 99.99% efficiency to remove bacteria for sterile filtering. Ideal for filtering white wine that has not completed a full malolactic fermentation. Filters meet FDA Title 21 regulations for beverage contact. Will work with our 10 inch cannister filter.

What makes this filter really unique is the PES layer membrane with defined .45 micron hole size. This layer will not allow material to pass that is over .45 in size. This PES layer is also what makes this cartridge considerably more expensive than spun poly filters. Some cartridage filters are listed as being absolute but unless they have a PES layer they aren't.

Wine to be filtered should already be very clear as this filter will load up quickly with material. It is a common practice to prefilter already settled wine with a 1 micron spun poly filter and then filter with this .45 micron absolute filter.

Please note: these filters are not intended to be reusable.

Filter does the job for our needs

Great filter; fits perfectly in the 10" Canister Filter Housing (FIL32A). We actually used 2 of the 10" canisters in series; a 1 micron filter to catch the big things; then this .45 to catch the fine particles. 1 micron filters are a lot cheaper and we are happy with the results.

Exactly what I need for sterile filtration.

Fits a standard 10 in. cartridge like the one recommended for the All-In-One vacuum system. Can be cleaned and re-used.

It's not explicitly stated in the description but is this filter cleanable/reusable?

        MoreWine

This appears to be identical to a filter I purchased elsewhere. It's a commercial grade rigid molded 100% polypropylene 9 3/4" filter that fits into a standard Pentek housing and designed to be reused just need a source of 180° water to run through it for 30 minutes at 5PSI. Specs below. Sanitization and Sterilization Hot water at 175°F (80°C) at 5 psid for 30 minutes Inline steam at 257°F (125°C) @ 1 psid (0.7 bar) for 30 minutes Autoclavable at 257°F (125°C) for 30 minutes

You can rinse it when you are using it but I don't think you should save it and try to reuse it. It also gets clogged very easily.

        MoreWine

The absolute rated .45 filter with the hard caged body is reusable.

        MoreWine

        Yes it is cleanable/reusable.

        MoreWine

It is not cleanable if it has reached it's limit but it is reusable if you store it properly in a plastic tube with end caps in a solution of acid blend and So2.

        MoreWine

It is a disposable filter. It’s rated for 10 gallons of brew. You can backdlush it to clean it and perhaps extend its life. The best way to extend its life would be to stage filter 5 micron to 1 micron to this filter. And then backflush with a starsan solution or similar agent.

        MoreWine

We have reused the .45 micron filter. After use clean and store in sulfite/citric acid solution.

These 0.045 filters are cleanable and can be used at least twice perhaps three times. In our winery I have two filter cartridges and use a 0.5 filter in the first one then the wine goes directly into the second cartridge with the 0.045 filter. The first filter removes the larger particles and the second filter removes the smallest particles including yeast. I can reuse the 0.045 filter in again in the same method. In the next filtering process by putting it in the first cartridge and another 0.045 in the second cartridge. This works well for us.

My understanding is that this is reusable and should last for a while. I flushed with cold water until it ran clear after use. Store it dry... If memory serves the instructions that come with it explain this.

The above photo shows 4 of the filters. Is the price (74.99) for one filter or for four?

        MoreWine

        This is for one filter.
