Brewmaster #6.5 Stopper Thermowell

    Description

This carboy thermowell is used in conjunction with a Digital Controller to more accurately regulate internal temperature during fermentation. It is exceptionally useful during the start of fermentation when the lag between ambient temperature in the refrigerator and actual temperature in the carboy can vary greatly. Now you can keep your beer or wine within one degree of the set point on your digital controller.

Designed to fit either 3, 5, 6, or 6.5 gallon glass carboys or any other similarly sized opening hole. The unit comes with a 15" stainless steel thermowell and a #6.5 stopper.

The stopper has two holes measuring 3/8" and 1/4". Measures 14" from the bottom of the stopper to the end of the thermowell.

Will not work with Johnson Temperature Controllers (FE600 or FE609) because the probes are too large.

        works well

It works well I did have some issues at first with it popping out. But I attached 2 weights together with a wire and hung it on the stopper. Which kept it in place. After the first day or 2 it stayed in place fine by itself. I noticed a major difference with the temp probe in the stopper. My freezer which I use as a ferm chamber cycles a lot less.

Will this work with the hole in the bucket lid that comes with the homebrew starter kit?

        MoreWine

No. The bung is supposed to be the tbe stopper. You will have to drill a bigger hole besides the airlock one. Biggest worry I would have the length of tbe thermowell

        MoreWine

No It's for a bigger hole like a glass carboy has. I use it on my Genesis Fermenter. Actually this particular stopper doesn't keep a tight fit. I prefer the ones with smooth sides

Is the well sealed? or is there risk from contamination of the probe does not fill the well?

        MoreWine

The thermowell has a very snug fit and seals well.

        MoreWine

The well is sealed no risk of contamination.

        MoreWine

the well is sealed at the bottom end (end that will be in the tank). the top end is open in order to insert the probe and attached cord.

        MoreWine

It seals well but if you use StarSan you will need to twist it a few times until it actually seals.

        MoreWine

        Yes it’s sealed.

Will this work with Inkbird temp. controller probes?

        MoreWine

        Yes.

        MoreWine

Yes that is the controller that I have. Have been using the controller and these thermowells for heating (water bath with aquarium heater) or a CoolStix with brew bag for lagering.

        MoreWine

        Yes

        MoreWine

Yes I use mine with inkbird temp control probes and it works great!

        MoreWine

        Yes it fits perfectly.

        MoreWine

This thermowell works great with the inkbird temperature probes.
