BrewZilla Lift-N-Lock Pulley System

    Description

This heavy-duty pulley is made from strong nylon strapping, laser cut 304 grade stainless steel and is capable of lifting large heavy loads with ease. It's the perfect pulley for lifting the heavy malt pipe from your BrewZilla or other all-in-one system. It's a bit more expensive than other pulley systems, but there's no comparison when it comes to easily lifting or lowering the malt pipe. The included strap is 10m long by 25mm wide (32.8 ft. x 1 in.).

The pulley system enables you to multiply your pulling force by 4 times. If you apply 60 lbs of pulling force, the pulley can lift 240 lbs with relative ease. Be sure that the beam you mount the pulley to is rated for the total amount of force being applied i.e. pulling force plus load weight, so for this example 300+ lbs.

Saves my back on large brews.

I have both Brewzilla's 65L and 35L and one thing I wasn't happy with was the sparge/Lauter time. It just went to fast unless I managed to compact the grain bed just right - I managed this once. Using this and a beer stand I can slowly raise the malt pipe and sparge/lauter for the desired time and increase my efficiency not to mention save on back pain. Add a trolley system to the works and getting that heavy malt pipe out of the way is actually pretty easy.

Hard to use with moving trolley

I wanted to love this unit but instead have been very frustrated with the difficulty in releasing the locking mechanism. It is true that having a trolley mounted screw eye that the unit hangs from is part of the problem but in a brew room lifting and then moving the object is the main reason I purchased it. I ended up mounting a smaller pulley above the release clip on the trolley several inches over from the screw eye the unit hangs from and ran a small heavy duty cord over it. The cord is looped through the clip (or brake) over the pulley and weighted at end about 6-7 ' off floor. This allows me to release the brake once I have lifted and moved the load to where I want it. Without that diy release cord when holding the load in place I was unable to reach out far enough to pull up and away far enough to release the brake on the load. If you are just pulling loads up and then releasing then down onto mobile carts truck beds etc. then you can probably stand far enough away to jerk the brake loose to lower the load.
