        Works great!

Easy to use probably best if it could be clamped down however that was definitely not necessary!

Needed a minor design change but now works well.

As it arrived it was impossible to press the lever down far enough to crimp the bottle caps. I removed a very stiff spring from between the lever and the mandrel (not sure if this is the right term) and now it works fine. I've used it for about 2 years about 20 5-gallon batches and it continues to do the job well.

        Nice capper for the price.

Nice capper for the price. Had to practice on a few empty bottles to get the height right and get a feeling of how much pressure to apply. Also attached the base to a 2" x 12" of scrap lumber I had laying around to stabilize it. After that capping went very smoothly. I do not have enough bottles capped to know the longevity of the capper. Been using the 2 handed capper before and upgraded to this. Overall happy with it and would recommend.

Great capper and I highly recommend it.

I had to bottle some stuff for a friend with different sized bottles and it was a breeze. I wish I purchased it sooner. One less problem on bottling day.

Work great tight seal and fit First time user

This is my first foray into bottle capping and was looking for a good combo of cost and quality and this is it. I saw some reviewers being skeptical of the plastic parts but this thing was well designed and engineered.

So much better than an emily capper

Nearly every batch I bottled with an emily (winged) capper resulted in one or two broken bottles. No more. I bought this as a replacement and have only used it once but I can tell its going to be much better. Feels sturdy and can be used on a counter top but I suspect that it would be even better bolted down.

As easy to use as possible.

I have bottles ranging from champagne all the way down to wee six ounce soda bottles and it works flawlessly and every single one. Ease of use is just that easy peasy. I do recommend bolting it onto a bench I used a 16x16x2 block because it can be a little tipsy otherwise but it’s not necessary if you are careful.

Does the job but not very satisfying to use.

This capper does the job but not very satisfying to use. I have been using a two handled capper (butterfly style) for the last 25 batches (about 1200 bottles) and wanted to switch to this style capper because I would typically crush the cap seat of the bottle at least once per batch. I was also finding that when I later opened the bottle the entire neck would break off just below the cap. I assume that is due to the stress that the capper subjects the bottle to. I just bottled my latest batch and had no broken bottles or misplaced caps. The height adjustment works well allowing quick and easy height adjustment to accommodate different size bottles. I mounted the capper on a piece of 3/4 plywood which made it quite stable. However the reason it is not very satisfying to use is that it takes a lot of force to properly seat the cap. Enough so that I’m concerned that I might break the bottle— although none did. Beyond that about every fifth cap gets stuck in the capper after it is crimped requiring some wiggling of the bottle to remove the cap. Finally the spring loaded plunger must be binding because when the capping pressure is released then plunger snaps back making a startling and surprisingly loud noise. I tried to remedy that with some silicone spray which seemed to help some but did not eliminate the issue. I also wonder how long this capper will hold up. While the stand and lever arm are steel the capper body is made of plastic. The capping operation applies a lot of stress to the body but time will tell. While bottling this first batch some black fragments came out of the crimping cup. It looks like those came out of the Center of the plunger inside the cup. Not clear if tat part was functional though as it did not appear to impact the operation.

        Robust

I haven't used the capper on a batch of beer yet but I did test it on a few bottles of varying sizes. I filled the bottles with a little soda water capped then shook them. No signs of leaks. The capper looks well-constructed and certainly more solid than the "Super Agata" press I had been using.

Works good quicker than the hand one.

I like the magnetic head which holds the cap while you get the bottle ready. Seams robust so believe it will last for quite a while. I like the adjustable head piece which makes working with an assorted size of bottles a non-issue.

        Replace your two handed capper!

My two handed capper was getting loose harder to align less reliable on first squeeze. Bought this to solve all that and save time. Mission accomplished. Mounted it to a spare board 1x12x12”. Solid.

        WORKS GREAT!

Works great and cuts bottling time in half! No more broken bottles. I had been using the hand capper that came with my starter kit and after about 10- 5 gallon batches it started to feel "rough" as if it was wearing out. I got to thinking that if this breaks in the middle of bottling a batch I'm SOL. So I opted to upgrade this bench capper. I'm glad I did! I mounted it on a cutting board with rubber pads on the back for stability and it works fantastic. My wife had a real problem with me drilling holes into her kitchen countertop for some reason! Doesn't slide on the counter and I can bottle by myself easily. I'll keep my hand capper as a backup but I doubt I'll ever need it. This capper appears well built and sturdy. When I first got it I tried it out with some caps and empty bottles that I had. When the capper released the crimped cap it made a loud bang and sounded like either it or the bottle broke. For every bottle! I thought I was going to have to return it but one phone call to More Beer solved the problem. They asked if the caps were wet (as they would be in sanitizer before bottling) or dry. DUH!! I never thought of that. So I sprayed some Star-San on the caps and it worked like a charm. Thanks More Beer!!

Works well needs to be mounted...

I am happy with this Bench Bottle Capper but to be effective and cap several bottles at a time you will need to mount it to something. I have mounted this capper to a 12" x 12" piece of 3/4 ply and it is mobile and works well.

        Works Great.

Works great. Allows me to cap the bottles that don't have the broad band under opening. Our local brewery gave our club an opened pallet of bottles but with the narrow band hand cappers don't work. I made a sharpie mark on the side for a quick reference to my standard bottle size. The pad on the base has a retention tip in the middle that pushed up on it when i bolted it to a board preventing it from laying flat. Easy fix though.

Excellent capper with only one small issue

I used to have a Colonna bench capper and while that worked better than the wing style capper it was mostly plastic and just felt a bit rickety. The Colt Strong capper kills the Colonna! Height adjustment is much easier feels way more solid and doesn't leave that annoying indent in the cap (making it easier to write on the cap). I have only discovered one issue and really it's very small. I often use 750 ml amber champagne bottles that accept 26mm crowns (yes 26mm). The capping bell is too narrow to make it past the ridge that is designed to secure the cage (if you use cork and cage) so a 26mm crown cannot be fully secured. Again most people aren't doing this so it won't be an issue. In fact I only wanted to do it once when I didn't want to waste corks and cages for a particular beer I was bottling. Aside from that this is an excellent capper and if I had it to do over I'd buy it again.

        Appropriate Description

Unlike the Ferrari I had to return this capper does exactly what it claims to do and you don't need gorilla arm strength to use it. Easy to adjust to any size bottle that takes 26 mm crown caps. Just have to be sure the seal is fully crushed by selecting the correct height setting. Provides more confidence than the wing-nut type capper I used for years. Well worth the money.
