Erlenmeyer Flask (2000 ml)

    Description

The perfect container for rehydrating yeast or mixing up additions. Erlenmeyer flasks allow you to swirl your yeast or acid, tannins, nutrients, etc. into solution. The clear glass allows you to see when the solution is fully mixed.

In the lab world, these are known as "Student Grade"

Made from Borosilicate glass, it can be rapidly heated or cooled without the risk of cracking.

Recommended Process for Use of Flask:
    Double Boiler Method

It is important for your safety to heat water in the flask with a heat source that distributes heat evenly. Our manufacturer has confirmed that direct heat to the glass can break down its integrity and break if the heat source doesn't distribute evenly. Morebeer! recommends using the "double boiler method." This process involves using a boiling water bath on the outside of the flask to heat up the water inside the flask. All you need is a kettle 3 gallons or larger. This process is much safer and efficient. If the flask should break or boil over, your kettle will be there to collect the contents, thus keeping your stove clean and keeping you away from potential harm.

Customers praised this 2000ml flask as 'perfect for yeast starters' for 5-gallon batches. The borosilicate glass allows direct stovetop heating and rapid cooling. Reviewers noted 'excellent quality' and durability through temperature changes. Some mentioned coarse gradation markings and potential overflow on large starters, suggesting a bigger flask for high-gravity beers.

        Flask for yeast starters

Well it does hold what it says. I don't boil in them so can't say. It scares me to put on flaming stove top. Base may be too large for some stir plates. 2000ml base 4.75''- 5'' w

        Erlenmeyer flask works great

I have used this flask twice now to do a yeast starter for homebrewing beer. I have been able to use the flask directly on a stove top burner and directly cool in an ice bath. I also use a stir plate and it works great. There were some other comments that the curved bottom inside the flask prevented the stir bar from staying centered. I have not experienced that; the bar has remained in place and continued to create a nice vortex in the wort.

        Works as expected.

I've made a starter with this on a stir plate and it worked fine. Looks like it will be easy to clean with a bottle brush.

Well made. Nice smooth bottom as to not throw stir bar. Works well with water now to throw a starter in it and see how it does.

Does Exactly What it is Supposed To!

High quality handles wide fluctuations in temp changes well which is what you really need from a starter flask.

        Better Yeast Starters

When combined with a stir plate great for making starters for most strength beers. High gravity lagers need a bigger flask or to do two step starter

Perfect size for a 5gal batch

If I'm doing a 10gal batch I use two of these. Its definitely nice to be able to do starters in a single vessel and avoid additional opportunity for contamination by transferring to another vessel. Handles going straight from a boil on the stovetop directly into the freezer to cool down before pitching yeast.

Erlenmeyer flask does great job for yeast starters

I've been using these for years & this one from More Beer does the job. Tempered glass helps it last a long time as long as I don't burn the bottom!

Great for yeast starters and blowoff tube jar

I bought this to make yeast starters. I works great. Just a heads up though if you fill it to the level you want before you boil the water there will be MUCH less. Also you it to create an airlock with my blowoff tube. The neck is wide enough to let air escape but the shape holds the tube well and with the wide base doesnt tip over

High quality flask for yeast starters

Really sturdy flask that I use for all my yeast starters. Just my little tip on starters I start to boil the DME/water mixture in a large pot so that when the hot break (yes you still get one with DME) happens it won't make a mess. After the hot break I pour the wort into this flask (using BE490 funnel) and top off with a little more boiling water. And then since it's borosilicate glass you can move it from the boil into a cold water bath for cooling.

Yeast starters make all the difference.

I really didn't get my beers to turn out properly until I started making a yeast starter. This flask makes it easy. Proper size for a 5 gallon batch. and great quality for the price too.

        Very nice sturdy flask

I bought this flask after I accidentally broke another flask I had. This flask is much thicker and more sturdy than the other one I had. I'd only buy this flask if I need another one.
