        Never going back

I upgraded to one of these last year. Now I have 4. Can't imagine going back to glass growlers. I take them with me on any road trip and get them filled at local breweries. My friends love when I show up to poker with my "portable tap." Took a bit of time to learn the nuances but the manufacturer is much better at fixing issues than before.

        Best Invention!

This carbonated growler/tiny keg is genius. Solves the dilemma of having to drink all my local craft beer right away to avoid it going flat after getting it on tap. I've bought 3 of them over the past year (plus some as gifts!) and use them near daily for beer and kombucha sometimes up to 6 weeks (still tastes perfect). I haven't had an issue with any of the ukegs but did contact GrowlerWerks customer service at one point when I had a question and they got back to me right away. The ukegs are also a hit at parties so you can provide several delicious beverages on tap. Whenever people see the ukegs for the first time they comment on how awesome they look (I have 2 stainless steel - one is the 128 size 1 copper 64)... very steampunk :) The smaller one (64oz) one fits much better in my fridge. I have to remove a shelf when I use the 128oz size but it's nicer for things I drink a lot of. Yes you need to replace the CO2 cartridge about every fill but that's standard if you want something carbonated! Carbonation isn't free. You can buy the cartridges in bulk for about 40 cents each. Small price to pay for the benefit in my opinion. Overall a great investment and gift idea.

Hold out for the 1 gallon keg

I've got the copper (looks great) one gallon model - much more practical. The 64 oz is only 8 glasses: too small for even a small group. I downgraded the growler for the months and months I had to wait for delivery.

        Impressive piece of equipment

Not sure why folks have been giving these growlers negative reviews... I got one through the Kickstarter and I am truly impressed by the design craftsmanship and quality of this thing everytime I use it (despite it being made in China). I've used this thing so many times and have yet had a problem with it ever. Don't abuse it and it won't disappoint you. How can anyone complain about a $0.75 CO2 cartridge each fill up WHEN THEY HAVE A PORTABLE KEGERATOR?! Can you make a portable kegerator this size/quality/beautiful under $150? Also if your brass parts are of a slightly different finish that just means you need to break out the brass polish and some elbow grease. Give the parts a good scrub and they'll shine like the sun. Then use a good stainless cleaner on the body and it'll look like the work of art that it is. What I enjoy using it for is filling it up with hard cocktails instead of beer (margaritas Cap'n 'n Coke screwdrivers etc.). You get a bit more booze for your buck and everything gets a bit of a fizz from the CO2. It's a real crowd pleaser. Also fizzy Sangrias are pretty tasty too for those who like wine.

        Very nice growler

I purchased one of these through another retailer but only because I couldn't get them here at the time. The growler is made of metal and seems to be well constructed. The cap is primarily plastic with some metal components. At the time I had a beer that I'd brewed which just wouldn't carbonate. Adding extra sugar and champagne yeast didn't change that. Keeping it in 80F conditions for a few weeks didn't do it. It was a Belgian Tripel that tasted great but was just embarrassingly flat. Then I learned about the uKeg and decided to get one. I opened some bottles of the flat beer and poured them into the uKeg. I inserted a CO2 cartridge and cranked up the pressure dial to the max. I put the filled uKeg into my refrigerator and left it overnight. The next night I had a nicely carbonated glass of homebrewed tripel. It was awesome to see that beer the way it should have been. Since then when I've tasted a post-secondary-fermentation sample of a beer I've made and really liked it I'll fill up the uKeg first before bottling. Instead of having to wait two weeks for the thing to carbonate I just dispense it right out of the uKeg 24 hours later. The CO2 cartridges it uses are easy and cheap to get through online retailers. Cleaning it is pretty easy too. I usually just run hot water through it between batches or a little PBW and hot water. It's been a great addition to my equipment and has allowed me to try my beers a lot sooner than I could before. It's as nice looking as it appears in the pictures which makes it a fun conversation piece when friends visit. If you have the choice between the 128-ounce and 64-ounce model I think I'd recommend the 128-ounce (although that isn't the model I have). There's nothing more disappointing than finding out you've brewed a great beer and only getting 3-4 glasses of it from the uKeg (then having to wait days or weeks for more)... :) This is a purchase I don't regret in the slightest. I'd like to be able to use the larger CO2 cartridges in it because they'd probably do a better job carbonating a Belgian style beer like I typically brew - and although the Growler Werks web site seems to be planning to offer a modification for that it hasn't been available when I've checked. That's maybe my biggest complaint here... and it's not that terrible.
