Customers praise this elbow barb fitting as essential for fermentation overflow management and closed pressure transfers. "Works great" for high-gravity beers and CO2 transfers to kegs. Shoppers appreciate the quality construction and compact design, though some note removal can be difficult and price seems high at $20.

        Must have for Brew Bucket

This is a must have if you have the SS Brew Bucket. This makes it easier to manage possible overflow during early primary fermentation and it can also be used for closed pressure transfers into your kegs after fermentation is over. For $20 this is an easy and inexpensive upgrade..

        Blow off connection

Great product although it's a pain to remove if you want to install a regular S Lock after primary is almost done. I usually switch to S Lock so I can crash without sucking in liquid/air.

        Excellent Quality

I bought this for my SS fermenter. The barb that comes with it kept getting cut in half by the sharp metal this is awesome.

        Simple and effective

Works great used 1/2” silicone blowoff for initial “heavy” yeast activity then switched an airlock attachment I made by threading a piece of the 1/2” silicone through a PVC elbow to add rigidity. A #4 silicone stopper fit inside to fit the airlock onto. Works great.

        Great Add on

Nice for bigger beers and to add some CO2 for closed transfer. Works great.

        Great!

I dislike stoppers and bubbler type air locks for several reasons. This thing makes the brew bucket more compact and IMHO more stable with a range of fermentation. I haven't tried it yet myself but I've seen folks on YouTube use this fitting to close transfer beer into a keg with co2 from the brew bucket.

Perfect for fermenting and CO2 transfer

I brewed three batches and kept each at the specific temperature steps with the FTSs during repeated heat waves during the month. Each batch was perfect! And cleaning the brew Bucket is so easy! I recommend adding the right angle fitting to use a blow-off tube during fermenting then attached it to CO2 to transfer into a keg to minimize oxidation. Cheers!

        Great product

Perfect for my Ss 7 gal fermentor. Used it to insert CO2 to transfer beer to keg and as blow off barb in fermentation period.

blow off barbed elbow for SS brewtech fermenters

Good Product. Works well and is well made from high quality material. But It is over-priced in my opinion.

Cold Crash with Blow Off Barb? Any one have a good (not too complicated) suggestion for cold crashing with the barb still attached to the brew bucket?

        MoreWine

Look up Cold crash Guardian at brewhardware. Another option is attach a ball valve upstream of the blowoff tube and close the valve when you cold crash. Better yet put a T fitting upstream of the ball valve and on opposite side of ball valve you have a CO2 quick disconnect you can use to add CO2 after cold crashing so you can keg without sucking in a bunch of air.

Just fill a Mylar balloon (the ones you get at the dollar store) with CO2 and attach to the barb with a rubber band. Google “bruloon lock” for more info

I run the blow off to a NorCal Brewing Solutions CO2 Harvester set up. Works perfectly for cold crashing the brew bucket. I also run about a 40/60 mix of water and Everclear in the jars/airlock so it wont freeze like StarSan if you go too low. Also on the off chance some would ever get back in the beer BONUS! it wont ever though with this rig..lol.

I lift the blow off tube out of the sanitizer and connect to a Cold Crash Guardian (Google it) once the most vigorous fermentation has occured (so you don't get gunk in the CCG). Works great and you are recycling the CO2 when the cold crash sucks back in through the barb when the Ideal Gas Law kicks in while you chill.

I have it hosed down to a 1L flask cold crash as if it were a normal airlock. It shouldn't make a difference if it's on. That's how I do it haven't noticed any issues.

This will work for the regular SS Brewtech 7 gallon Brew Bucket right? I do NOT have the brew master edition...

        MoreWine

Yes I put one on my Brew bucket with a domed lid and Trii-clamp... works like a champ

        MoreWine

Yes I use this elbow in both my 7 gallon and 14 gallon SS Brew Buckets as a blowoff fitting.

        MoreWine

Yes I have the regular 7 gallon brew bucket and it works great.

        MoreWine

Yep works great. I have the regular one also

        MoreWine

Yes this will work on the 7 gallon brew bucket. Get a piece of silicone tubing for a blow off into some starsan.

        MoreWine

I use it regularly on the standard (regular) brewbucket with great success. I thought it was quite pricey but it has been worth it. I do not ferment any batches without this in place as part of my blow-off valve.

        MoreWine

Yes it will. The only difference between the regular and brewmaster edition of the 7g brew bucket is the addition of a thermowell and provided digital thermometer. The lids are identical.
