I really like that this spider fits any size kettle. It's construction is high quality. I have a 25-gallon electric kettle and it is more than big enough to handle the circumference. I ordered the clamp to go with it and I use a fine-mesh bag.

well made and works great. I use a 4" tri clamp to hold the bag on and that works nicely.

Silicone sleeves are adjustable a normal size 15" x 5" muslin bag hangs to the perfect depth in the brew kettle. The 4" O-Ring for a corny keg to hold it in place works perfectly as someone mentioned (thanks!!). Good quality add to my system!

Sturdy and practical

This thing works great for a small kettle. You have to buy a paint strainer bag for over 5 gallon boil kettle and there is no really good way to connect that bag to the small ring on the hop spider. We use those spring clips that are used for stacks of paper and they seem to work well enough. The opening is a little small for hop additions from small bowls and in particular adding whole leaf hop additions. Other than that I'm fairly pleased with the amount of a particulate that is not going into my fermenters.

I was very skeptical about this until I saw a friend using it; immediately ordered it for our next brew. It keeps the hops in the bag without later needing to fish out the bags. Absolutely worth it. The recommended 4" clamp is not very helpful as it doesn't get quite tight enough to make a big difference. Rubber band is easier and works better.

I have been using a hop bag to reduce the amount of muck in my wort for some time. I've been attaching the bags to the rim of my kettle with a clothes pin but have never been confident of the circulation. Adding hops to a closed draw string bag in a boiling kettle is a bitch. The kettle spider is the perfect solution to several problems. It is a little pricey but well made and I have never found one elsewhere. It is big enough to use with any kettle I am ever likely to own and centers the bag in the kettle for optimum circulation. I draw the bag up through the opening and secure it to the rim of the spider and secure it with three spring-clip wooden clothespins. That allows leaving the mouth of the bag wide open and well above the liquid for easy mid-boil additions. Three clip-type clothes pins hold the bag in place very effectively. I also use it for steeping the grain bags with my extract brews. I only wish I had not paid for the tri-clamp and the keg o-ring which were suggested as possible means to attach the bag. Either of them would be more cumbersome than the clothespins.

I purchased this when my hop bags started to wear out. I thought: why not just get 1 big bag rather than 4 small ones? It's much easier to pour the hops into the opening rather than using a bag for each addition.

Product is excellent. I use a regular rubber band to keep the bag attached. The plastic/rubber on the ends make it so you can grasp it even while hot.

I coupled this with a silicone oring and a hop bag to add hops to the boil. It works great over my 20 gal BK. I have virtually zero hop trub when I use this. Best accessory purchase

The Kettle Spider is an extremely useful gadget to minimize the amount of trub in your wort. I use this along with paint filter bags (from a big box store) to minimize the amount of hop vegetation in the trub. I secured the bags to the ring with a rubber band and put ball bearings in the bottom to keep the hanging near the bottom of the kettle. It increased the yields in my beer batches. Highly recommend this tool!

Very handy for hop additions.

I've used this hop spider a number of times both with 10 and 15 gallon Blichmann pots and love it! As other reviewers suggested I just put a Keg o-ring around the hop bag and it stays put with no problems. I really like the fact that it has silicone sleeves that you can adjust to meet the pot width. This thing has really made my brew day experience with hops a lot easier!

This works perfectly with my MoreBeer Low Rider system since the depth of the kettle coincides well with the length of the muslin hop bag that you put in the hop spider. Here's how it works. Step 1: clip a hop bag onto the spider with a few binder clips. Step 2: dangle the hop spider with the attached bag over the kettle and drop your hops into the bag then lower the bag into the boiling wort and set the spider on top of the kettle. Now you have an anchor to hold the bag open for subsequent additions. It's that easy. And yes it catches all the hop gunk that would otherwise end up in your fermenter. It is certainly not perfect but I'd guess it captures approx. 90% of the hop matter that goes into it.

I was very pleased with the quality of this. Arms were plenty long for my 10 gallon kettle. The silicon sleeves allow for maneuvering the spider as needed for stirring putting in immersion chiller etc. Great idea by other reviewer on a corny o-ring- works perfectly to hold hop bag snug. I should have bought this long ago!

Today is the first brew day with the Kettle Spider and I must say it is an extremely handy gadget. I went "beer nerd" and bought the tri-clamp but the O-ring may be a little easier to use. The Spider is easy to use and has taken away that little bit of frustration with hop additions. Time will tell if the hop efficiency is close to or the same as dropping the hops directly into the wort but I don't care... this is easier cleaner and a great idea!

I have used the spider twice. The debris and mess from pellet hops are contained within the bag. The only down side is most 5 gallon all grain batches are brewed in a 10 gallon pot. The longer mesh bags are harder to find and 60% of the bag is above the wort. I wish the center was angled down to account for this. The keg O ring is a must. Overall I love the product and will continue to use it for all future brew sessions.

I originally made one of these from a DIY article in a homebrew magazine. After falling into the wort one time from the steam coming off the kettle and bending the plastic PVC coupler I decided to go with the MoreBeer version. 100% better! All stainless and works with zero issues! Great product!

I've always used a small clamp to hold the hop bag string to the lip of the kettle but found myself trying to open a very very hot bag for hop additions. I disliked it enough I just started hanging new bags with the hop additions...a total PIA. This tool makes hop additions SO much easier. Love it.

In terms of holding a hop bag in your wort it is great. Hop bag tends to hold in wort at end of boil which can get a little dicey when time to transfer... but the device is flawless

This is a great product. I have found another use for this device. I use it to hold my brewing funnel with the screen filter above a bucket or kettle then I pour PBW through the funnel. I use this when I am cleaning several items with the same batch of PBW.

We do 10 gal batched of continuous hopping and this guy makes it real easy. I do put my chiller in right from the start so I do not have to pull the spider out and drop the chiller in for the last 15 minutes of boil. Keeps things a little easier and cleaner for me. The keg lid o-ring trick is a must. It should ship with one.

I have used this on 6+ batches 20-25gallons with over 2 lbs in the sack with plenty of room. Easy to pull and drain before whirlpool I recommend a triclamp fitting for lifting. I put a couple of stainless nipples at the bottom of the sack I adjust the bag to sit 2 inches of the bottom of the pot on a 30 gallon blichmann with the 29x29 biab and 4" triclamp.
