Lallemand | Go-Ferm Protect | Yeast Rehydration Nutrient

    Description

A new, advanced formulation of Go-Ferm

Go-Ferm Protect is a natural yeast nutrient that is added to the yeast hydration water before adding your selected yeast strain. Its complex formula provides your yeast with the proper sterols, unsaturated fatty acids and micronutrients needed to begin fermentation in optimal shape. The great thing about Go-Ferm Protect is that the proper nutrients and vitamins are introduced BEFORE the yeast is added to the must. This way 100% of the nutrients are available to your selected yeast strain and won't be stolen away by any indigenous yeast or bacteria that may be present in the must before your yeast can become established.

Go-Ferm Protect was created as a result of a multi-year study of problem fermentations by Lallemand and the National Agricultural Research Institute (INRA) in France. During this period, they looked at the adverse effects on the yeast from overripe fruit (>28 Brix), low nutrient levels, overclarification of the juice and poor fruit quality (Botrytis, rot, high bacteria count, insecticide and fungicide residue). Their research showed that musts deficient in sterols and unsaturated fatty acids made yeast more susceptible to ethanol toxicity (high alcohol), osmotic shock (high sugar), temperature and others stress factors. In response to this data they created the NATSTEP (NATural STErol Protection) process that incorporated sterols, unsaturated fatty acids, as well as vitamins and minerals into an advance yeast hydration nutrient: Go-Ferm Protect.

Go-Ferm Protect provides a combination of protective and nutritional benefits that ensure your yeast begins your fermentation in peak form! The best part is that if your fruit is in great shape then Go-Ferm Protect will simply help your yeast out that much more!

Go-Ferm Protect does not contain any DAP, as DAP is harmful to the yeast during the rehydration process. GO-Ferm is usually used in conjunction with our Fermaid K yeast nutrient; where Go-Ferm Protect is used at yeast hydration then Fermaid K is added at the first signs of fermentation and again after 1/3 sugar depletion.

    Use:
    Use at a rate of 1.25 g Go-Ferm Protect per 1 g of yeast.

A rough approximate of weight is 1 tsp = 3.2 grams. We highly recommend using a scale to weigh the product for an accurate dose. We do not recommend relying on these rough conversions for accurate dosage rates.

        Ensures a Good Start

I've been using Lallemand Go-Ferm for well over 10 years--helps me to know I'm giving the yeast it's best possible chance to start strong. Works well with any yeast. Keep in an air-tight container away from moisture or it can harden. 100 grams will start 15-20 batches of yeast.

        For all my yeast starters

I seem to get starters going really quickly. Been using this religiously with wine yeasts - for my meads. Follow the instructions and you should have great results!

        Good yeast prep

This seems to be helping with getting the dry yeast ready to go and ferment quickly. However it does smell terrible.

        stepped nutrition

First step of a stepped nutrtion program that has made my meads infinitely better... That said I question what this is really doing... It has a touch of snake-oil/old-wives-tale vibe going on... But I have a bag that ill happily use up

        Maximum Yeast

I use Lalvin yeasts for my wines and meads and per their recomendation I rehydrate them with Go-Ferm. Grape juice and honey are expensive so I want to make sure my yeast are happy.

        great product

If you use dry yeast this stuff is the ticket. My fermentations take off quicker and finish cleaner when I rehydrate with this product.

Use with Fermaid K and am happy

I've been using this along with Fermaid K for my starters for a year now; they are growing more quickly and have been healthy happy yeasts. 1/4 tsp of each per 1L starter has been great.

If you use dry yeast you need this.

This stuff works great. You will end up with more viable yeast cells if you re-hydrate using this product. My ferentations start faster and finish cleaner since I started using this a few years ago.

        For all Meadmakers

This is a superb product if you are using dry yeast. Many people don't realize how critical it is to keep your yeast unstressed and healthy. Go-Ferm provides the key nutrients when the yeast are most vulnerable. This is a must have.

        Great Stuff!

From what I have personally seen this is a must for use with dry yeast. It gets the yeast going extremely fast and seems to also keep it nice and healthy to the end of fermentation.

        Use with your primary yeast....

If you're using dry yeast you should use this to rehydrate it to insure a fast start and maximum number of live yeast cells at pitching. It provides all the nutrients the yeast need to make the jump to the wort or must and gives them the head start needed to an active and complete fermentation. If you're not useing Go Ferm give it a try you'll be glad you did..... Cheers!
