        Smaller OD than other 3/8 canes

        This 3/8” racking cane ?? with stainless steel cap is nice however I found when using the two drilled stopper the cane would slip. It is slightly smaller on the OD than other 3/8” canes although I have not used a caliper on in for the outside dimension.

        Better than plastic

        Product is great and exactly as expected. I wish I had ordered a longer one. This doesn't get to the bottom with a 6 gallon carboy. The tip is pretty loose too. But other than that no worries

        Awesome Racking Cane

        I bought this to start doing closed system transfers from carboy to keg... worked flawlessly... I don't have to worry about it cracking and introducing oxygen like a plastic racking cane... solid investment... glad I bought it.

        Stainless is so much better than plastic. We process 80 gallons of beer a year and have to replace the plastic racking cane every year. It gets very brittle after repeated use.

        Unbreakable racking cane

        I have broke so many canes. I have used this SS cane three times so far. I may never have to buy a racking cane again.

        Would a tube that is 3/16 ID fit over this racking cane since its a 3/8 OD? More beer recommends a 3/16 ID tube for their ball lock keg posts.

        Yup exactly. I use hose clamps to be safe when I use this for closed transfers. works great. it's too short for a 6.5 gallon glass carboy. go for the longer racking cane

        A 3/16" ID tube will not fit over this this racking cane. For going from this racking cane into a ball lock keg connect we recommend using a splicer (D1880) to reduce from a 3/8" tube down to 3/16" to connect to the keg.

        So does this simply fit inside the plastic outer piece when siphoning or can I use this as a stand-alone replacement for the plastic racking cane/ Auto siphon?

        It is not a replacement for the inner piece of the auto siphon. It is a stand alone racking cane. I use mine exactly like the R550 Sterile Siphon Starter with the exception of replacing the vinyl tubing with silicon tubing.

        No it is not auto siphon. I use mine with a transfer pump.
