Tested the lid with water and it worked well. The float and vacuum release mechanism is now clear plastic. The lid is the same.

Instead of replacing the gaskets decided to replace the entire lid. Works as it originally did. Worth the money vs the frustration of further "troubleshooting". A good seal on all gasket surfaces is instrumental in drawing wine off a carboy or open fermenter for bottling.
