The Vintage Shop | Super Transfer Pump | Variable Speed Diaphragm Pump | 0-3 GPM | Self-Priming | Quick Disconnect Pre-Filter | Tubing Included

    Description

When siphoning is impractical or too time consuming, the home winemaker needs a pump. We helped pioneer the use of diaphragm pumps as an economical, gentle method to move small volumes of wine.

This new take on an old favorite includes speed control. Now you can dial in the flow from 0 to 3 gallons per minute. Gentle, economical, flexible, and wow are all adjectives we would use to describe the performance.

When this pump was first introduced to us, we loved the idea, but had concerns that the speed control would compromise the longevity of the motor. We build much larger pumps (our ChunkyPumps for commercial wineries) and normally you need a $700 frequency drive to control motor speed. However, we kept in touch with the manufacturer and after three years in which he has not had any issues, and after our own testing, we are now sold that this pump performs as promised. The manufacturer offer a 1 year warranty.

A diaphragm pump works by moving wine through one pulsating diaphragm into the next. In this design, as opposed to a centrifugal pump which has a small head spinning at high speeds, the shear value is small meaning the wine is not as "beat up". A diaphragm pump is self-priming, meaning that it will "pump air" creating suction that will pull liquid out of your container and into the pump head. This makes the pump very easy to use for the home winemaker.

    • This pump comes with 1/2" barbed ports for easy connectivity.
    • Comes with 4' tubing on both sides.
    • 110 Volts, 0.5 Amp, 60 Hz.

Includes a built-in pre filter to help prevent solid materials from entering the pump head and potentially damaging the diaphragms, which would prevent the pump from being able to move liquid. The clear plastic top of the pre filter unscrews for cleaning.

This variable speed diaphragm pump excels at transferring wine and beer with smooth, consistent flow. Customers praise its self-priming capability, ease of cleaning, and time-saving efficiency. However, some note concerns about filter durability, early failures after 3 years, and susceptibility to clogging with sediment. "Simple to use and fast!" Overall highly recommended for home winemakers.

Ok but possibly vulnerable to early failure

This pump worked well the first three years I had it. This year the head failed and would not pump. The filter got clogged with some berries that made it into the primary fermentation tank although the berries didn't get past the filter to the diaphragm. Will purchase a replacement her and hope does no recur. Comments here cause concern though.

Variable speed pump works well with wine. Once you find the perfect speed you don't pick up air. Used in 15 gallon Demi John only complaint is hose circles around container. Makes it hard to get wine. If it came with food grade extension wand/pipe would be perfect. Only reason I did not give it 5 stars

Didn’t believe it would be this good

Initially leery of a transfer pump due to possible agitation & oxygenation. This unit is super smooth with consistent flow. Joint system is very smart for cleaning. Filter is nice touch but I made a coarse pre filter at the intake pipe to exclude seeds and skin fragments that snuck in during pressing. The stock filter did do a great job collecting fines and as was very easy to clean. Racking time was reduced enormously as was the commotion. Only concern is the diaphragm life seasonal storage and what happens if it fails mid-drain. (Back to the motorcycle lift for the 100l can but I have a 200l now too…)

I like the variable speed control. Parts are easy to remove. Clean up is a bit more but worth it IMO. I think it would be better if mounted/secured in position as it moves around as your trying to set your siphon hose… I made a rookie mistake… I was running the pump under the faucet to move water through the diaphragm area got shocked and popped the GFI. LESSON LEARNED! I imagine there is a Warning in the instructions that i neglected to read. Over all a decent pump. I would recommend it for a small home hobby.

        Great pump.

Great pump. It is very quiet simple to set up and sanitize. It is simple to operate as well with the built in speed control/on off switch. The only drawback is that you have to set the speed up to a fairly high setting just to get it started. Once started you can easily slow it to the speed needed. The rubber feet are a nice touch as well keeping it from vibrating and moving.

I had a smaller pump on a superjet filter and this variable speed pump was a great replacement for it. I really liked that I didn’t have to lift the carboy to do a gravity transfer.

        new pump

I just bought my 2nd pump from more wine. It works great except that after the second use the filter screen came apart at the seam. Thought it was supposed to last longer. Is there any warranty on this?

        Fast Pump

Pump works great. Adjustable speed is great especially when you get close to the sludge on bottom keeps from disturbing it. Easy to clean and works as advertised.

This pump was a great addition to my little home brewery. So far I have used it to flush out kegs and keezer lines with PBW and then water. Love the variable speed operation.

Wish we had bought a long time ago!!

Our wine club was a bit reluctant to try a pump- but we did! This pump worked really well and saved us so much time and labor lifting the heavy car boys! Cleaned up easily and ready to go for the next racking! We love it !

Very useful pump for transferring wine

I make about 30 gal of wine and used the diaphragm pump to move it from primary to secondary fermenter. I usually use a larger diaphragm pump that operates using compressed air and has a much higher flow capacity. But this year I decided to try the SuperTransfer pump because it seemed this technology had advanced to the point where such a pump might simplify the job. I was pleased to find that was the case. I think the reported maximum flow rate is accurate and overall the transfer task was simplified. The filter did clog toward the end of transfer but it was easy to clean it and finish the job.

It works very well and I like the speed of the pump. The angle of the ftgs out of the pump do not work well for me but I will get by.

Worked great racking hard cider to a secondary fermenter. Wrench was missing from package but was promptly provided when notified. Will have to see how durable it is.

        Makes racking much easier

I use 60 liter containers for secondary and cold wine storage. Gravity or siphon means really heavy lifting this pump makes it much easier and is easy to clean.
