Kegmenter Fermentation Keg - 29L/7.6 Gal

    Description

Most winemakers appreciate the simplicity of using a keg for topping up barrels... apply nitrogen or argon gas pressure and you top up your barrels as needed. The Kegmenter fills this need perfectly with a large 4" TC lid and ball lock posts. The posts are recessed which allows you to stack these kegs up to 4 high. A 4" T.C. end cap with pre drilled hole is also available (H691), which can be paired with a #3 stopper and airlock.

    Features:

    • Rated up to 3.5 BAR (50 psi)
    • 4 in tri-clamp lid
    • Ball lock posts built into lid
    • Floating dip tube
    • Pressure Relief Valve
    • Stainless steel 1.8 mm thick

    Use:

    • As a stainless steel fermenter that is easy to clean
    • Great choice for 5 gallon ferments
    • Easy to pressurize the kegmenter after fermentation to push through a filter and into another keg
    • Fermenting under pressure, allowing co2 to exit via the relief valve, reduces esters and fusel alcohol production allowing you to ferment at warmer temperatures
    • As a cellar keg for topping up barrels
    • Distillation - with the addition of a T.C. reducer and condenser (H701 / DS120 / DS130)

Warning: Always depressurize keg before removing lid.

Customers praised this fermenter as "best I've ever had" for pressure fermentation and oxygen-free transfers, perfect for 5-gallon batches. Most found it easy to clean and reliable. Some reported lid seal leaks at higher pressures and concerns about weld quality, noting the unit is very heavy when full.

This is a great fermenter. If you want to make hoppy beer and do an oxygen free transfer you can't beat this fermenter. It's the perfect size to do a 5 gallon batch. Easy to clean. I don't use the floating dip tube. I replaced that with a solid tube.

It doesn’t leak and easy to clean

I bought this fermentation keg so I can start fermenting under pressure and so far the Keg does what it’s meant to do I thought I had a leak but it turned out to be the spunding valve not the keg I will soon buy another one since I do 10 gallon batches.

        Lid problems.

It’s stainless and cleans easily. Would give it another star but my lid leaks even using keg lube also the check valve seems to release on its own.

        Perfect for all my needs!!

Perfect all in one system. I will order another one. I had a slight problem with the seal. Slow leak at higher pressure.

A good value but welds not as sanitary as other kegs I own.

Seems like a great value for the price as finding these on secondary markets (10 gallon corneys I mean) is not easy. Subtracting a star for how many welds inside that seem not to be as high quality as other kegs I own. Also subtracting a star for the float ball appears to be connected to the dip tube with a silver solder connection. Not a sanitary weld. I'm a little disappointed there. But again overall it's a good value if you can live with those challenges.

        Excellent fermentor

This is a well made fermentor I fermented a Vienna lager with white labs high pressure lager yeast worked great held 7.5 psi and fermented in five days I highly recommend this if you’re wanting to ferment under pressure

        awesome

If you like lagers ferment with this under pressure 14 to 16 psi @ 68 to 72 deg cold crash after 5-6 days add geletan transfer under pressure to serving keg conition for 2 days your beer will be clear and carbonated ready to drink @10 to 14 days grain to glass lagers with no off flavors this kegmentor for me has truly been awesome you however need a gauge and a spunding valve i think for the money this is a more durable fermenter than the fermentasauris and it fits in your frige with ease

        What's the height of this?

        A
        Anonymous

Is this really 34lbs? That seems very heavy for a keg. I'm hoping to travel internationally with it but that would be difficult.

        MoreWine

I have not actually weighed it but it is very heavy. If travel weight is a concern maybe a torpedo keg is a better option.

        MoreWine

I never bothered to weigh mine when empty but when I Googled 'what does a pony keg weigh empty' I got 25 lbs which is also heavy for any kind of travel. That is of course unless you learn to stand on top of it when it's on its side and walk backwards like a lumberjack then it would be a mode of transport by itself. Cheers!

        MoreWine

I don’t think it is… I just weighed mine in at 24lbs and it has a small amount of cleaner that I put in it…

        MoreWine

Yes it very solid. Almost seem indestructible. Wide opening easy to clean and my favorite part stainless.

Could most people reach their arm into the 4" port to clean the inside walls?

        MoreWine

I think it’s a little tight but I can I also purchased a brush kit from harbor freight that I put on a drill to clean them….

        MoreWine

        Yes. Definitely.

        MoreWine

Yes it fits. The circumference is 12.566 inches so take a tape measure or cloth fabric tape and measure your arm. It will likely fit unless you have very robust forearms!

        MoreWine

        Indeed 4 inches is enough.

        MoreWine

I would say yes I'm 185 pounds and my arm fits

        MoreWine

        I can. It isn’t deep.

        MoreWine

Yes I have averaged sized forearms and it's not terribly difficult to get my arm inside to scrub.

        MoreWine

Yes. I’m 6’ 4” tall and could easily clean it.

        MoreWine

Yes easily I can’t pass through a corny keg this is much larger. Great fermenter for the price.

        MoreWine

Yes but I just soak it with PWB. Hole is large is enough that I was able to drill and bolt a bulkhead valve on bottom side.

        MoreWine

I've had no issue so far and in fact it's one of my favorite things about this fermenter

I am having trouble getting the 4" tri-clamp to fully seal under pressure. It slowly leaks and I have cranked it down tight and used keglube. Any thoughts on getting to seal tightly?

        MoreWine

I use keg lube and give the clamp a few extra turns No issues

        MoreWine

I also had the same issue i ordered a silicone gasket from glazier tanks and I used keg lube and I have no issues now.

        MoreWine

I had this problem and it ended up being the tri-clamp itself. Morebeer sent me a new clamp and everything has sealed up tight since.

        MoreWine

I have same problem even with keg lube grease. Slightly thicker silicone seals should help.

        MoreWine

        try replacing the silcone gasket

        MoreWine

You might have a bad clamp. I have two of the kegmenters and one of the clamp will seal either while the other doesn't work on either. I called MoreBeer and they sent me a replacement clamp that worked. With a good clamp it shouldn't be very hard to make the air tight seal.

Do the lid have a hang tab for dry hop tubes?

        MoreWine

No it does not. However if you have a means to cold crash the floating dip tube has allowed me to dry hop loose with no issues. I also brew a slightly larger batch size of 6 gallons for some extra piece of mind that hops wont transfer into the serving keg and to account for losses. I have done some batches with up to 6oz of T90 hops with no issues.

        MoreWine

        No

        MoreWine

The other answers are correct - no tab. However I have drilled a hole in the short "gas" dip tube and can use a stainless steel wire clip to attach the chain holding the dry hop cylinder. It can be hard to drill into the tiny tubing so a drill press helps and I would also suggest having the ability to polish the inside and outside of the newly drilled hole prior to re-passivating the tube. Full disclosure I retuned the 7.6gal Kegmenter that I purchased because I wanted a tall skinny quarter bbl keg - I got one of those somewhere else with a 4" TC fitting and use the same Kegland top that comes with this Kegmenter.

        MoreWine

        Nope

        MoreWine

Not on the dip tube version that I have but you could use fishing line and come thru the gasket. Not sure if it would seal 100% but it could work.

        MoreWine

        No.

        MoreWine

        No

        MoreWine

        No it does not.

        MoreWine

        No it does not

        MoreWine

They do not have a tab on the bottom of the 4" lid.
