A 1/3 mix each of citric, tartaric and malic acids. Primarily used in fruit wines to adjust acid levels. A rough approximate of weight is 1 tsp = 3 grams. This connects to the keg you are filtering into and has adjustable relief valve for letting pressure off as the keg fills up. Notes: The very end of the pressure relief valve can be adjusted by unscrewing to adjust the pressure. If tight, and not adjustable by hand, it needs to be loosened with pliers. Wrap a towel around the end piece of the pressure relief valve (about  the last 1/4 in) and loosen with pliers. Then finger tighten or loosen to desired pressure.

  • Cornelius Keg - NEW (2.5 gallon)

AEB Ball Lock Keg | Corny Keg | 2.5 gal.

    41 reviews

High quality Italian made ball-lock, cornelius style kegs with rubber top and bottom made by AEB in Italy.  The rubber tops are cool because they provide two handles and are easier to stack. These are brand new premium made kegs.  The difference between Italian made and Chinese made kegs is in the craftsmanship. These are best quality kegs available.  Quality is important because your beer may sit in these kegs for months. If bacteria gets into a bad weld they are going to very hard to kill. Sanitizer may not be able to get into small pockets to kill the bacteria. Kegs are 15" tall, x 8.25" diameter and weigh 7.5 pounds. This makes them approximately half the size of a 5 gallon keg. They fit pretty much everywhere from coolers to backpacks. These type of kegs are often referred to as corny or Cornelius kegs (the brand who made them originally) or soda kegs because in the past these style of kegs were made to hold soda syrup. Max working pressure of 130 PSI.

  • Aeration Partial System Aeration Partial System

    Aeration Partial System

    6 reviews

Our aeration system, FE380, without the air pump. Most aquarium style air pump will work, we recommend a deep water pump. Comes with inline filter, stainless steel diffusion stone, and tubing. About the inline filters: There are two sides to the filter - an "in" and an "out". The direction you use doesn't matter, however, you want to take note of which way you first push air through it and always keep it that way. There is an arrow on the edge of the filter housing that we use to keep the air flow going one direction when using it. The filter should never get wet, so don't try and sanitize it by dunking it in sanitizer. If you want to clean the outside of it, use Alpet D2. To store the filter, use a little tinfoil on the "In" of the filter and store in a zip-lock bag. The stone is attached to semirigid polyethylene tubing temp rated from -40°F to 140°F.

  • Aeration System Aeration System

    Aeration System

    55 reviews

Instead of diffusing pure oxygen into your wort this system uses filtered air. The included air-pump pushes air through an inline sanitary filter which is then dispersed into the wort through our two micron threaded stainless steel diffusion stone. The advantage of an aeration system is that you never have to buy replacement oxygen tanks. The down side is that aeration takes longer than oxygenation. Because the atmosphere is only about 20% oxygen, the diffusion stone must be left running in the wort for approximately 30–120 minutes (however even 5 minutes of aeration is better than shaking the carboy.) There is no concern of contamination during this period, however you do have to monitor the fermenter periodically for possible over foaming. While you are brewing, this system can also be used to pre-fill fermenters with sanitary air. Replacement filters, FIL90, which need replacement every few years, are available for $4.99. About the inline filters: There are two sides to the filter - an "in" and an "out". AeroPress Original Coffee Maker

    6 reviews

Using the ideal water temperature and gentle air pressure brewing yields rich flavor with lower acidity and without bitterness Total immersion brewing results in uniform extraction of the ultimate in full coffee flavor. Other coffee makers drip hot water on bed of grounds, over extracting at the center and under extracting at the edge Micro filtered for grit free coffee - unlike other press-type coffee makers One minute from start to enjoy. The actual press time takes only 20 seconds Use the Aeropress to brew a hearty cup of coffee in a fraction of the time your drip brewer takes The AeroPress produces a very strong, espresso-style coffee that can be drank straight up, or add more water to tone it down. The result is a unique cup of coffee with very low bitterness. The AeroPress makes use of pressure applied to the top unit to push 175°F water through the coffee grounds and only requires around 10 seconds of steeping (unlike a french press which requires 4 minutes). The entire process start to finish takes only 30 seconds! In our own tests, we found that the AeroPress does indeed make a tasty cup of coffee. The unique markings on the side of the plunger assembly make filling the AeroPress to the desired strength a breeze. And the included stirrer, funnel and coffee scooper make measuring and brewing even easier. Check out the MoreCoffee! AeroPress Tutorial! The AeroPress Package Includes: - AeroPress Coffee and Espresso Maker - Measuring spoon for coffee - Coffee Stirrer for steeping grounds - 100 paper filters Manufacturer Information: The AEROPRESS is an entirely new way to make coffee. * Water and grounds are mixed together for ten seconds. * Then gentle air pressure pushes the mix through a micro-filter in 20 seconds. * The total brewing time of only 30 seconds results in exceptionally smooth flavor. * Tasters ranging from professional cuppers and author Kenneth Davids, to coffee aficionados all praise the smooth, rich flavor.

  • Agar (2 oz)

    Agar (2 oz)

    1 review

Pharmaceutical grade dry agar for making plates and slants. 2 oz will make up approximately 4000 ml of liquid agar. BK580, First Steps In Yeast Culturing, is a great reference if you do not have prior experience working with agar. For lab use, use 12 grams to make 1 liter of solid agar, which is way more than even a big laboratory uses. You need a very accurate scale to measure that out. You want to dissolve the agar slowly in the water or wort for a few minutes. Then heat gently till you get to a boil. Be very careful of not boiling over, if you do it's best to throw that boil out as your water to agar ratio is off and you will not get a good medium. Boil for a few minutes and then divide out to sterilize.
