Depending on the weight—barrels up to 30L are no problem—60L is the limit and should not be carried when completely full. The handles have a weight capacity of 30kg (66 lbs). Is there an upper limit on the alcohol content of the stored liquid? In principle, there is not. However, it should be noted that the higher the alcohol content, the faster the seals and, to a lesser extent, the tank itself will wear out. Up to what temperature can the containers be used? For short periods of time the containers can withstand temperatures of up to 80°C (176°F). This temperature should not be exceeded. Farro Glass | Glass Carboy | Wide Mouth | Carrying Harness

Wide mouth carboys are the easiest glass fermenter to clean with plenty of room to get your arm inside to scrub Add bagged flavoring additions and remove them freely when finished—this can be nearly impossible with traditional narrow neck glass carboys Watch fermentation activity as it's happening! The ultimate advantage of translucent glass or plastic fermenters Ported lid with removable cap sized for a #5 stopper & airlock Carrying harness included for easier handling Glass carboys have been a staple of the brewing and winemaking world for generations, but traditional tight neck carboys aren't without their limitations. Features: Gasketed lid for tight seal Included carrying harness Ported lid ready for #5 stopper & airlock 165mm (6.5") lid opening Continuous thread, 5mm pitch Please note: The carrying harness should not be used to move the vessel when full. • FerMonster 7 Gallon Carboy FerMonster 7 Gallon Carboy

    FerMonster 7 Gallon Plastic Carboy

    17 reviews

Carboys are great, but they have some issues: They require funnels to get liquid in, and cleaning brushes to clean up after.  They hold a decent volume, but all are a bit undersized for fermentation, and have no inherent measuring system.  Glass Carboys are breakable, while plastic carboys scratch with the first brush cleaning.  The Fermonster leaves all these problems behind, and still sells for less than $30.  These Fermonster Plastic Carboy Fermenters are made from heavy PET plastic, the same used in 2 L soda bottles, which is nearly impermeable to oxygen penetration.  The smooth ribless walls are a feature that reduces yeast and sediment buildup, and imbedded are volume markers at five, six, and 7 gallons.  The huge 4" opening makes filling a breeze, and cleanup is as easy as wiping down the inside.  The 7 gallon is a monster of a fermenter, reducing blowoff issues seen with standard carboys.  Glass carboys are fragile, and this is nothing like that.  The hefty plastic construction will hold up to brew day abuse; and while movement is manageable, these can be upgraded with our Carboy Carrier. These fermentors are completely air-tight; the bodies constructed of heavy, oxygen impervious P.E.T. plastic, and the lids sealed tight with an O-Ring.  Additional O-Rings and Lids both with and without holes are available for purchase, see our You Might Also Need items below. Features: 4" inner diameter wide mouth carboy - easy to clean! Food grade PET plastic construction is impermeable to Oxygen penetration Volume Markers at 5, 6, and 7 Gallons O-Ring and Lid with one hole is included (Fits #10 Stopper) Additional O-Rings and Lids available Weight: 1.5 lbs Temperature Limit: 140° F Height: 20.9 inches Diameter: 11.3 inches Completely taste and odor free Perfect for Beer, Wine, Cider, Mead, Kombucha or any other fermented beverage! Thick walls for better oxygen barrier.

The tank body is fabricated from 304-type stainless steel, while the floating lid is made from 316-type stainless and has an inflatable bladder that pumps up to seal the wine off at any volume level. They can be used for primary fermentation as well as aging. Built in Germany by Speidel, the world-class traditions of German engineering and craftsmanship are reflected in these tanks. And, after examining tanks built by every major manufacturer worldwide, we can safely say that when it comes to features, quality and price, these tanks represent the very best value available in stainless steel wine storage. These tanks arrive to you complete and ready to go out of the box after a little assembly. The tanks are fitted with 1/2 inch threaded ports to accomodate the included 1/2 inch stainless steel ball valve and 1/2 inch stainless plug. The plugged port is intended for use with an optional thermometer (MT514). Also compatible with shielded thermowell for digital temperature controller probes (FE622). Speidel Quality Features: Rubber Lid Gaskets: Rubber gaskets are much thicker than the traditional clear vinyl gaskets, which along with their extruded manufacturing process provide a much better seal with the tanks wall. They're seamless and more oxygen resistant than the clear gaskets. That means better protection for your wines! Weld Quality - Speidel's robotic-arm laser welders create flawless stainless to stainless junctions that look and feel more like a taped fabric seam than a traditional weld. Ultra high-quality welds leave no chance for residual product to harbor spoilage organisms. Interior Finish - Speidel tanks feature an ultra-smooth 2R rated interior surface which effectively resists the build-up of tartarate residues. Clean your tanks with cold water after cold stabilization! Say goodbye to harsh cleaning chemicals and expensive CIP systems! Warranty - Speidel-Behaelter, GmbH backs up each and every tank with an industry-leading 25 year warranty against defects in materials or workmanship. And, as a 5th generation manufacturer, you can be confident they'll be around to honor that warranty should the need arise. Tank Dimensions - 550mm D x 999mm H (21.6" D x 39.3" H) Note: Over tightening the airlock / orange bulk head can cause it to crack. Only thread the airlock down until it feels snug. Do not over tighten.

If your yearly production involves around a few 1-5 gallon lots of wine, then carboys are probably the only wine storage container you will need for storing wine. However, if you are making 30+ gallon lot sizes, then at some point it makes sense to look into a larger volume tank for your wine storage needs!
